Traditional spawning cones are terracotta — heavy, prone to chipping, and hard to sterilize between spawns. The Spawning Cone gives you the same function in tough, easy-to-clean PETG, with two real advantages over the ceramic original.
Void Black beats terracotta for contrast. Breeders deliberately pick dark cones so pale eggs stand out clearly against the surface —
black does that better than the traditional brown terracotta ever did.
Layer lines are a feature, not a flaw. Terracotta’s rough, porous surface is part of why eggs grip it well. The natural FDM layer texture
on this cone replicates that same adhesion surface — while staying non-porous, chip-proof, and easy to sterilize between spawns.
The design solves the two real risks with any spawning cone: trapped air and lost eggs. The open top acts as an air vent so the cone floods and sinks on its own instead of trapping a bubble, and the wide integral tray with a raised lip catches any eggs that fall off the cone instead of losing them to the substrate.
Details that matter:
- Egg-catch tray — a wide stable base with a raised lip catches
stray eggs instead of losing them - Self-flooding, no trapped air — the open top vents air on its
own, so it sinks and stays put - Three mop-tie holes — Ø5mm holes for tying off a yarn spawning
mop or securing moss, also aids flooding - Wide, stable base — spawning is vigorous; the tray resists
tipping - Printed in PETG — chip-proof and easy to sterilize (rinse +
methylene-blue or dilute bleach soak, then dechlorinate) between
spawns, unlike terracotta
Sized to your species:

- Medium: Angelfish
- Large: Discus
Specifications:

- Base diameter: S: 70mm · M: 90mm · L: 110mm
- Top diameter: S: 30mm · M: 36mm · L: 42mm
- Cone height: S: 105mm · M: 150mm · L: 190mm
- Tray diameter: S: 110mm · M: 130mm · L: 150mm

Care and Use:
- Drop it in and let the open top vent air — no priming needed, it
floods and sits firm on its own - Tie a sinking yarn mop or moss through the top opening or wall
holes for egg-scattering species - Between spawns: rinse and sterilize with a methylene-blue or
dilute bleach soak, then dechlorinate before returning to the tank - Hand wash only
